When you are in pain or you have picked up an injury whilst exercising and you can't now train or sleep comfortably, then the "cost" of treatment isn't just the number on the receipt, it’s the cost of lost time, missed training for events, and the frustration of having treatment therapy that unfortunately haven't been able to help you.

In London, Shockwave Therapy prices can vary quite wildly. This guide here breaks down exactly what you are paying for when the dreaded injuries occur and the time comes to invest money in your recovery to speed up your healing.

The Shockwave Therapy cost guide.

When budgeting for your recovery in London, it is important to distinguish between "price per session" and the "total cost to cure." At our Highams Park clinic, we provide transparent, specialist pricing using the world-leading Storz Medical Duolith T-Top technology.

1. Why technology dictates the price: The "Radial" vs. "Focused" divide.

The most common question we get at our Highams Park clinic is: "I saw Shockwave Therapy for a cheaper cost elsewhere, why are you charging more for Shockwave at your clinic?"

The answer to this simply lies in the physics of the top of the range Storz medical machine and the elite level training we have had to use this incredible technology.

The entry-level: Radial Shockwave - Most common form of Shockwave that can be found in treatment clinics.

Radial devices use a pneumatic "jackhammer" effect. The energy is strongest at the skin’s surface and as it penetrates to a deeper level it becomes weaker.

  • Best for: Large, superficial muscle groups (calves, glutes).

  • Limitations: It cannot reach deep-seated tendons or bone injuries without causing significant surface discomfort.

The Gold Standard: Focused Shockwave. Less commonly found in clinics (Our specialty).

We use the Storz top of the range Focused Shockwave machine. The exact same equipment used by the leading professional sports teams in Europe. Unlike Radial, this device uses electromagnetic coils to converge all the energy into a single, targeted point deep inside the body, where the damaged and injured cells are located. This could be up to 12.5 cm deep.

  • Precision: We can treat the exact millimeter where a problem is located.

  • Cellular Impact: It triggers Angiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels), which is essential for ED treatment and chronic "non-healing" injuries.

  • The Investment: These machines cost a considerable amount more than Radial machines, and also much more to maintain - so this is therefore reflected in the session price, but the clinical success rate of using Focused Shockwave is significantly higher for the majority of cases.

3. Shockwave therapy vs. other forms of treatment: A cost comparison.

Some patients may want to consider "cheaper" alternatives like massage, steroid injections or even surgery. Let’s look at the true cost:

  • Steroid Injections (£200 - £400): These often provide temporary pain relief but can actually weaken the tendon over time, leading to a higher risk of rupture.

  • Surgery (£3,000+): Requires significant downtime, carries infection risks, and involves a long, costly rehab period.

  • Massage treatment: Prices in London can vary between £60 - £100 per session but massage cannot compete with Shockwave therapy in terms of healing specific injuries and pains.

  • Focused Shockwave: In London this can range from £120 - £250 per session. The big plus to Shockwave Therapy is the zero downtime after treatment, it is non-invasive, and stimulates the body’s natural healing system rather than just masking the pain.

When you calculate the "Cost to Cure," Focused Shockwave is often the most economical choice.
